Work must have meaning: Top-notch tech stack, innovation, and career growth alongside work-life balance

We discussed Xperience by Kentico with our CEO, Dominik Pinter, about why he’s proud of our platform and the people who develop the product. Discover why he believes Kentico is the best place for those who need their work to be meaningful.

Introduce us Xperience by Kentico.

Xperience by Kentico offers tools for creating digital content on the web and other channels, but it also offers integrations with other systems—for accounting, inventory, and more.

Currently, we have two versions of Kentico on the product on the market. Some customers use Kentico Xperience 13, a platform that has evolved over many years, offering content management as well as online marketing and e-commerce tools in one.

Three years ago, we decided to modernize, both technologically and in terms of features.

We started building a completely new product—Xperience by Kentico. It's a SaaS platform, meaning we host it ourselves in the cloud. In July 2022, we launched the first version, since then we are continuously innovating it.

We are also transitioning all existing customers to a new subscription model.

Why is this shift interesting for developers?

We're working with a modern tech stack including Microsoft products, .NET Core, and .NET 8. It’s important to enable our customers to use the latest technologies on the front end, with recent standards like JavaScript libraries such as React

At the same time, Xperience by Kentico runs on the cloud, requiring a complete architectural overhaul. We've implemented numerous other technological innovations, such as modularization and containerization with tools like Docker.

A significant trend today is headless or multi-experience content—customers can distribute content across various channels: web, mobile, social media. Thus, Xperience by Kentico becomes a platform where customers create and store content, which we then distribute across various channels. This requires additional technological innovations, which we have successfully tackled.

Today, topics like smartness, AI, and machine learning are also big. We help our customers automate their systems.

You often say we’re the best combination of interesting work and stability for technical people. Why?.

We’re an ideal choice—we work with the latest technologies while being a solid, stable company. We place a strong emphasis on quality.

When a developer joins a large IT corporation, as there are many in Brno, they often encounter outdated technology stacks. Large companies rarely prioritize technology innovation within existing products, often modernizing through acquisitions of smaller firms. As a result, developers lack the influence to work with up-to-date technologies and frameworks. In contrast, we continuously innovate, and developers have a strong voice.

Opposite these rigid giants are countless startups. They start with the latest tech stacks but lack stability—no one knows if the company will still be around in two years. Developers face heavy pressure for quick results, leaving little room for code quality, which can demotivate skilled developers. For us, code quality is a priority. We’re in it for the marathon, not the sprint.

Is this why top developers work with us for 10, even 15 years without feeling stagnant?

Exactly. They constantly learn new things and move forward. Every two years, they encounter something new.

To build such a culture, you need a certain type of people. How would you describe them?

We look for people who care about results. They are goal-oriented, ambitious, eager to learn, and advance. I appreciate that Kentico has many talented people who are lifelong learners, driven to improve themselves and our product.

And who aren’t we looking for? Gold-diggers who expect us to shower them with money and benefits just for putting in formal months or years of work. We’re not a factory.

Good talent is scarce, and companies compete for it. Why should they want to work here?

Besides interesting work on a modern stack, great culture, and career growth? We offer real work-life balance. Colleagues here have faces; they’re not just numbers. As the product has matured, we’ve grown together as a company—juniors and students have become top-notch senior professionals. They’re teaching the next generation.

They’re also starting families, so their needs evolve. We regularly adjust benefits, expectations, and work styles to reflect our people’s current needs. We don’t expect overtime, early-morning calls, or mandatory business trips halfway around the globe. We simply want our people to feel good at Kentico—it’s as simple as that.

How has our work style changed after two years of COVID?

During the pandemic, we were forced to work mainly from home. We regularly checked how our colleagues were feeling about it.

Now that the world is past the worst, we realize that people are social beings and need contact.

We certainly don’t expect employees to be in the office daily from nine to five, but we do expect them to show up once or twice a week. We also hold company-wide events about once a month, where we can meet outside our teams for coffee, a beer, and a chat.

We’re also welcoming colleagues from other cities across the country to participate in events.

Our customers are spread across the globe. Could you introduce some of them?

We assist companies in digital transformation. Today, every company needs a digital strategy. Some are just starting; others are nearly there. We guide them successfully on their journey toward the digital world.

The core of Xperience by Kentico is content management, promotion, and measurement. It also includes tools for personalization and automation.

Every customer has different goals. A Formula 1 team, for example, aims to grow its fan base, promote its brand, and encourage followers. The same applies to the Istanbul football club Fenerbahçe. Another category is one of our biggest clients, Land O'Lakes, a U.S. association that brings farmers together and assists them in digitalization.

If you’re looking for a place where your work matters—where you can build, innovate, and grow without sacrificing quality or balance—Kentico might just be the perfect fit. Join us on this journey, and let’s create something extraordinary together.

We also share all the information on our planned events on Facebook. Follow us to stay in the loop.
